Larsen Named Environmental Champion by Leading Quality of Life Group

Everett, WA – Environment America named U.S Rep. Rick Larsen (WA-02) as one of its environmental champions after he scored a 100% rating from the group after its analysis of thirteen key environmental votes.

“Clean air, clean water and open space for our families to enjoy is a key part of what makes Washington state a great place to live, work and raise a family," Larsen said.

“This particular recognition is meaningful because it underscores the local work I am doing to protect open space like Mitchell Hill on San Juan Island and clean water like Illabot Creek in Skagit County,” he continued.

One of the thirteen key environmental votes considered in Environment America’s analysis was Larsen’s Wild Sky Wilderness bill, creating the first new wilderness area in the state of Washington in over twenty years. Wild Sky protects thousands of acres of low-elevation old growth and 25 miles of salmon streams to make the land accessible for recreational use. Wild Sky provides more than 2.4 million people from Snohomish, Skagit and King counties with convenient access to hiking and camping in pristine wilderness, protect wildlife, promote clean water and contribute to the local economy.
