These conversations really are the heart of his campaign.
Over the last few weeks, Rick and our team have been out in communities across Northwest Washington, from Point Roberts to Tulalip and Stanwood to Ferndale, sitting down with neighbors at nine forums and community events. I wanted to share a quick recap, along with some photos, because these conversations really are the heart of this campaign.
Here's where we've been lately:
- League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County
- Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee Candidate Forum
- Point Roberts Voters Association Candidate Forum
- Carl Gipson Center Luncheon with Rep. DelBene
- Stanwood-Camano AAUW & Rotary Club Candidate Forum
- Phillips 66 GOTV Candidate Fair at the Ferndale Refinery
- Whatcom County Farm Bureau Candidate Forum
- League of Women Voters of Snohomish County Candidate Forum
- Van Zandt Stewards and Radio Station KAVZ Candidate Forum
As the conversations unfolded at each of these events, some key themes became apparent.
First, and no surprise: affordability. Whether the question came from a farmer, a small business owner, a retiree, or a young family, the cost of living was on people's minds. Rick discussed his support for the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act to help rein in corporate landlords and the need to roll back tariffs to bring down grocery prices.
Next, people raised concerns about whether we'll be able to take back the House and hold the Trump administration accountable. Rick made the case that Congress should serve as a real check on the executive branch. If Democrats win the House majority, Rick is ready to lead on priorities that matter here at home: a strong, bipartisan surface transportation bill, a new aviation bill to rebuild aging airport infrastructure, and funding for our region's waterways through the Water Resources Development Act.
More than anything, people want a Congress that actually solves problems. Time and again, we heard that folks are tired of gridlock. Rick's message is simple: he wants a Congress that solves problems rather than creating them.
But the most important thing Rick has done at these forums isn't talking — it's listening. We heard what matters to Northwest Washington: lower costs, accountability for the Trump administration, strong local economies, safe and reliable infrastructure, and leaders who show up for the people they serve.
That's why showing up matters, and not just in the final stretch of an election. Rick and our team are committed to listening to our neighbors year-round, in every corner of this district, long after Election Day. Thank you for being part of this. Your support makes these conversations possible. If you'd like to help us reach more neighbors before Election Day, here's how:
More soon,
Team Larsen
