Ahead of Labor Day Weekend
I was raised in a union household. As the son of a union power line worker and a mom who managed the books while raising eight kids, I learned early in life the value of a dollar and the importance of hard work — and how unions helped families like mine thrive.
I know firsthand that a good-paying, union job is the key to growing the middle class. So, ahead of the Labor Day Weekend, I wanted to share what unions mean to me and our community.
We are facing a crisis across America, where some of our hardest workers struggle each day to feed their families and afford the basics.
I believe that unions are the first and best support system for America's working class. I am running for re-election so I can continue to fight for working-class people here in Northwest Washington. With just 60 days until Election Day, will you contribute now to join my fight?
Unions represent the good that comes from us banding together to demand more of each other. For generations, workers have forged better lives through higher wages, improved benefits, and stronger protections thanks to their ability to collectively take a stand.
And, as we struggle through a divisive time in our country's history, I cannot think of a moment in my lifetime when union values have been more needed: a sense of togetherness and a commitment to hard work.
