Coming soon: $23.5M for Port of Bellingham

I have some good news to share: The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Port of Bellingham a $23.5 million BUILD grant to continue rehabilitating the North Pier at the Bellingham Shipping Terminal.

Cascada Daily News: Port of Bellingham to receive $23.5M grant for shipping terminal

This investment will help rebuild critical port infrastructure, strengthen the pier's loading capacity, modernize its mooring system, and create good-paying jobs here in Northwest Washington. The Port of Bellingham is a vital economic engine for our region. Modernizing this aging shipping terminal means improving the movement of goods, improving worker safety, expanding opportunities for maritime businesses, and supporting family-wage jobs for years to come.

This grant is also part of a much larger commitment to investing in Northwest Washington. Since the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was signed, I have helped secure more than $129 million in BUILD and RAISE grants for communities across Washington's Second Congressional District. Those investments are improving roads, bridges, rail connections, ferry service, transit facilities, and freight infrastructure that people rely on every day.

That includes funding for:

These projects are creating jobs, strengthening supply chains, improving safety, and making our communities more connected. I will continue working to bring federal investments home to Northwest Washington because building modern infrastructure is one of the best ways to strengthen our economy, support working families, and prepare our communities for the future.
