They promised lower costs, but it has been the opposite
It has been one year since President Trump implemented the Big Ugly Law. President Trump promised to lower costs, but the Big Ugly Law has increased costs:
- Taking health care away from more than 328,000 Washingtonians.
- Stripping 129,000 Washingtonians of their SNAP benefits.
- Putting 57,000 Washingtonians at risk of losing some or all access to food assistance.
- Giving the top 0.1% of income earners a tax break of $846 per day.
- Giving people earning less than $50,000/year a tax break of 68¢ per day.
I voted NO on the Big Ugly Law one year ago, and since then, every effort to reverse the damage has been blocked by the Republican Rip-Off.
Over the past year, I have heard from people all across Northwest Washington about how the Big Ugly Law has directly impacted them. It is my job to listen to your perspectives and experiences and lead legislation and advocacy in Washington, D.C., that improve our communities here at home.
The Big Ugly Law promised deficit reduction, but that was not true. It was about gutting vital services and programs to pay for tax cuts for the richest Americans and the largest corporations.
Costs are rising. People want solutions. I am working hard to take back the House in November so that we can put a stop to the Republican Rip-Off.
More soon,
Rick
