It is time to get to work

On Tuesday, President Trump delivered his State of the Union address. He predictably touted that everything was great regarding affordability and our economy, but we know prices are too high.

Prices are soaring and hurting family budgets across the region.

We see through Trump's rhetoric. We know grocery and gas prices are up, yet President Trump promised these would go down. We know that health care prices are up, and Republicans in Congress had the opportunity to lower those prices by passing the Affordable Care Act tax credits, making health care premiums lower.

Trump thinks affordability is a "hoax" when we know the truth of his reckless tariffs. President Trump will never own up to the fact that his tariff war has directly raised costs for families all across the country. In Northwest Washington, we are feeling the impact of his tariff war because of our close economic ties with our neighbors in British Columbia, Canada.

He does not believe affordability is important to Americans, but I believe we should be working day and night to lower grocery prices, gas prices, and health care prices.

I am ready to get to work for the families of Northwest Washington. Affordability must be at the top of our agenda and not dismissed as a "hoax".
