$2,008 more in costs for WA families
Last month, the Joint Economic Committee published a report outlining higher costs for Washington families in 2025 because of the Trump administration. Not just in Washington, but all across the country, because of the inflation that has occurred since Trump took office, the average household has paid $1,625 in higher costs.
The average family in Washington spent a whopping $2,008 more in 2025 than they did in 2024 because of the Trump administration's failing economic policies.
Housing costs like rent and mortgage payments were $411 more expensive on average for Washingtonians. Transportation costs like gas and car repairs were $496 more expensive. To make matters worse, the Washington Health Benefit Exchange estimates that health care premiums will rise $1,325 on average in 2026 for more than 25,000 people in Northwest Washington because Republicans allowed the ACA tax credits to expire on January 1.
While President Trump tries to waste your taxpayer dollars on buying Greenland, health care costs are skyrocketing for families in Northwest Washington. Too many families are being forced to choose between going to the doctor, paying rent, and putting groceries on the table. Taxpayer dollars should be spent lowering costs and providing services our communities need, not attacking our NATO allies to soothe the President's fragile ego.
I will keep working to bring down costs and address affordability. I will keep voting to extend the ACA tax credits and make health care affordable, and I will keep fighting for legislation to end the President's cost-raising tariffs.
More soon,
Rick*
