Delicious, nutritious Washington blueberries

The U.S. is the world's top blueberry-producing nation, and increasing exports to markets in the Asia-Pacific region supports producers in our districts and states, creating good agricultural jobs.

Blueberry farmers across the state are eager to grow by selling delicious, nutritious Washington blueberries to consumers worldwide. Congress and the administration must continue to work together to create jobs by breaking down barriers that prevent U.S. blueberries from competing in important global markets.

That is why I am working with Representative Newhouse to lead bipartisan efforts to push the United States Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, to prioritize market access for U.S. blueberries in trade discussions with critical partners in Asia.

This is what American blueberry farmers and producers are saying about this effort:

"Blueberry growers have a powerful and positive impact on the U.S. economy, generating $9.1 billion in total economic activity and supporting more than 61,000 jobs each year.

"We strongly support the bipartisan congressional letter urging the administration to address longstanding trade barriers in key markets like Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. Eliminating tariff and nontariff barriers will expand opportunities for family farmers, strengthen the agricultural economy, and ensure the U.S. blueberry industry can thrive globally."

– Kasey Cronquist, President, North American Blueberry Council

My top priority is to bring economic investments to the 2nd District that create good-paying jobs that support families. Our economy should work for everyone, and I will continue to push for legislation that protects the values of Northwest Washington.

More soon,

Rick
