Organized labor is the backbone of our country.

I was raised in a union household. As the son of a union power line worker and a mom who managed the books while raising eight kids, I learned early in life the value of a dollar and the importance of hard work — and how unions and good labor policy helped families like mine thrive.

Labor literally put a shirt on my back and food on my family's table growing up. So, ahead of the Labor Day Weekend, let's reflect on what unions mean to our community.

I believe that unions are the first and best support system for America's working class. I am standing up for working-class people here in Northwest Washington. Contribute $3 now to join me in standing up for our values.

Unions represent the good that comes from us banding together to demand more of each other. When unions are strong, Washington's working women and men earn higher wages, better benefits, and a safer workplace. I will continue to stand up and give working people a voice in Congress.

More soon,

Rick
