Improving your travel experience:
Earlier this month, the T&I Committee again came together on a bipartisan basis to advance a slate of bills that will improve aviation safety and airline preparedness and modernize mariner credentialing. I reintroduced my legislation, the Ensuring Airline Resiliency to Reduce Delays and Cancellations Act, which requires airlines to have resiliency in their operations plans, so that they have a plan when travel disruptions arise.
The Ensuring Airline Resiliency to Reduce Delays and Cancellations Act will help limit flight disruptions that impact you when you travel. Washington state is home to a thriving aviation industry, and taking these steps will mean a smoother experience for every traveller.
The Committee also advanced legislation to direct the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to update its guidelines and guidance on mental health policies for pilots, air traffic controllers, and other employees that would otherwise require an FAA Medical Certificate.
As the top Democrat on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I will continue to work hard to bring home federal money for critical infrastructure projects such as aviation.
More soon,
Rick
