The progress we make now is important
This year, I have been working hard to stand up for families in Northwest Washington and fighting back against President Trump and the Republican Rip-Off.
I hear that you are frustrated, scared, and worried. We must defend access to affordable health care, ensure Musk doesn't have access to our personal information, protect our infrastructure projects to safeguard these critical investments in our local communities, and never lose sight of our shared values. My office is committed to ensuring that everyone in Northwest Washington is heard and their needs are met. This year, we have already:
- Held telephone town halls with nearly 30,000 attendees
- Held an in-person town hall in Skagit County with roughly 300 attendees
- Held 182 meetings and events with community members, Washington state, and Northwest Washington state groups
- Answered over 47,000 messages from concerned Washingtonians
I know the news is disheartening, but we can still make progress right now. Here is what we have accomplished in just the last few weeks:
- Recovered $775,000 for our district
- Restored funding to the Port of Anacortes that the Trump administration had rescinded
- Co-sponsored legislation to block un-elected Elon Musk's access to Americans' personal information
- Led legislation to end Trump's trade war and his abuse of tariffs and emergency powers
- Voted against the Republican Rip-Off budget
- Introduced legislation to reauthorize a community-led effort to restore marine habitats in the Northwest Straits region
There is more work to be done, and we can not back down from our values now. Together, we can take on Trump and the Republican Rip-Off.
More soon,
Rick
