ICYMI: the endorsement momentum grows:
Our shared values – working hard, caring for each other, and serving the community – guide my work in Congress to serve the people of Northwest Washington. These values and our record of progress have earned my campaign the endorsements of national, state, and local elected officials, organizations, and leaders.
As we continue to attract new endorsements, I want to highlight a few you may have missed in the last few weeks and months.
- I will always advocate for gender equality — but I am especially proud to stand alongside the activists at NOW PAC to drive progress at a time when basic rights are under attack by right-wing extremists. We cannot allow anti-choice extremists to gain any ground in Congress. Guaranteeing the ability to make our own health care decisions, ensuring equal pay for equal work, and pushing for stronger economic opportunity are fundamental to quality of life for all of us.
- Gun violence is a public health crisis, and I am grateful for organizations including Newtown Action Alliance, Moms Demand Action, Giffords PAC, and the Alliance for Gun Responsibility Victory Fund for their work to curb the epidemic. I am committed to ending the violence and leading the charge for common-sense gun reform. I voted for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first major legislation on gun safety since 1994. While the reforms in this legislation do not go as far as I would prefer, they are a step in the right direction and will save lives.
- League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club are powerful forces in American environmental politics to promote a greener and more sustainable future. I am honored to have their support as I run for re-election in Congress and I am grateful for their work to keep places like Northwest Washington beautiful for future generations. As we deal with warmer temperatures, rising sea levels, and climate-caused disasters, I will continue working to ensure our infrastructure can handle the changing climate and keep our communities safe.
- As the Ranking Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I earned the endorsement of Transportation for Washington (T4WA). Over the last few years, through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Community Project Funding Requests program, I have been able to bring over a hundred million dollars in funding to the 2nd District to invest in our community and create jobs. From upgrades to roads and bridges in Skagit County and Lynnwood, to safe routes to school in Lynden, to road improvements that will make possible a green technology center in Everett — these projects have a tangible impact on our community.
- I am proud to represent all of my constituents in Congress and to have the support of Democrats for Diversity & Inclusion in doing so. Protecting diversity and inclusion is important and I am proud that DDI has recognized our work.
Whether it is the advancement of equality, gun safety, or environmental protection — these organizations recognize our work to protect our shared values. With your support, I hope to have the opportunity to bring the policy objectives above and more to fruition in Congress.
More soon,
Rick
