Taking One Trillion Dollars from Vulnerable Americans

There are millions of Americans that rely on Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. Safety net programs that our most vulnerable populations – our seniors – have earned and rely on to stay above the poverty line. These earned benefits keep our communities afloat, yet they are at the top of Trump's chopping block for the 2020 budget.

These three programs will endure a $1 trillion cut if Trump's proposal is approved.

We cannot allow that to happen, so Democrats nationwide have co-sponsored a petition and I hope you will sign it. Join us in urging our colleagues in Congress: we must protect Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.

Why is he making these cuts? To fund his tax cuts to the top 1% and big corporations. If you ask me, the top 1% seem to be doing just fine. We cannot justify padding their pockets at the expense of health care access and our senior citizens.

I have always fought hard for our most vulnerable – protecting guaranteed Medicare benefits, against proposals that privatize Social Security, and supporting funding for senior nutrition and employment programs – so you can be sure I won't stand for these budget cuts.
