Pass Universal Background Checks

In 2014, Washington became the first state in the country to pass a universal background check law by voter initiative. Washington voters have led the way in commonsense gun reform, but in many states, these simple safety measures are absent.

Right now, one in five people who buy a gun in the United States does not even have to pass a background check.

Like Washington voters, 97% of Americans support background checks for all gun sales. You would assume that the newly-introduced House bill to mandate universal background checks would be passed easily.

But because of lobbyists, Super PACs, and organizations like the NRA, many Congresspersons have opted to prioritize corporate special interests over their communities.

Share your support for this measure. Add your name to tell Congress: we need universal background checks to save lives from gun violence.

We're seeking 100,000 signatures to drive this point home. Stand for safety.
