Let's put our country back to work

We have officially gone 27 days without a working federal government, setting a record for the longest government shutdown the U.S. has ever seen.

Congress' number one job must be to re-open the government, get people back to work and give the federal workers and contractors the back pay they have earned. This partial shutdown is bad for Washington, bad for the country, and has ripple effects that hurt everyone.

The government shutdown has resulted in more than 400,000 federal employees being furloughed and another 400,000 working without pay. Our TSA agents, our air traffic controllers, our food inspectors have been showing up to work for three weeks to receive a paycheck of $0.

It's time to reopen the government and give our federal workers and contractors back pay.
