I want to see the label "Made in America"

I want to see the label "Made in America"

My top priority in Congress is implementing a forward-thinking plan to create jobs and invest in long-term economic growth.

With Northwest Washington still feeling the effects of the devastating financial collapse of 2008, my office and I have worked to keep families in their homes, helped businesses grow their exports so they can hire more workers, and fought to bring good jobs to Northwest Washington.

I want to see the label “Made in America” again.

That’s why I fought to ensure the Air Force refueling tanker is built by the best aerospace workers in the world—right here in the Pacific Northwest. I worked with my colleagues across party lines to show that the women and men of Boeing were the clear choice to build the tanker. The Air Force’s final decision is bringing thousands of new manufacturing jobs to our communities.

“Made in America” means we need to support small and medium sized businesses export their products – not their jobs – overseas. That’s why I was the first member of Congress to create a District Export Initiative to help small businesses across the 2nd District break down the barriers to exporting their products overseas while creating new jobs here at home. That’s why I fought to pass legislation to expand the Export-Import Bank, which supports thousands of jobs here in Northwest Washington at no cost to the taxpayer.

“Made in America” means investing in our future to provide for long-term economic growth. That’s why I fought for a robust transportation bill to repair our roads, bridges and highways and invest in our transit systems. That’s why I fought to stop the doubling of the student loan interest rate so our young people can get the best education and go on to get the best jobs.

Now I am fighting to make sure veterans returning home from Afghanistan and Iraq can turn their skills into jobs, and I am working to make sure we invest in our education and training centers so we keep the best manufacturing workforce right here.
