Larsen Reacts to President Obama’s Speech in Cleveland, Ohio

Today Rep. Rick Larsen released the following statement in reaction to President Obama’s speech in Cleveland, Ohio:

"President Obama today laid out the clear choice that voters here in Northwest Washington will face this November.

"We could go back, like the Republicans want, and slash health care for seniors and make it harder for kids to go to college--all so they can preserve tax breaks for the richest Americans.

"But that's not the direction people in Northwest Washington are telling me they want. They want us to reinvest in our roads, bridges, highways and ferries to create jobs and rebuild the economy. They want us to invest in education, so we can make sure we keep the best trained aerospace workforce in the world. They want us to preserve Medicare and Social Security for our seniors, and tackle the debt in a way that promotes future growth rather than one that punishes the middle class.

"We need to move forward with our focus on long term economic growth that works for Northwest Washington. The Republicans are fighting tooth and nail to protect the richest Americans and deep-pocketed special interests. I stand with President Obama, and will keep working with him to invest in our nation and rebuild the middle class right here in the Pacific Northwest.”
